This took bloody FOREVER!! Like a week. Couldn't turn off my 3DS the whole time cause of the flukes Colors3D has. And, boy, does it have some bad flukes. For most of the time making this I couldn't even undo. >.<
Hope you like it!
I believe you when you say it took you a lot! I'ts awesome! You did really great! I thought it was the original image for one moment! You has such a patience and awesome skills to realize the effects and the lights! Such a nice job! =D
I can't believe how close to the original this is! It's amazing! Also I can relate to the Colors3D issues, mine crashes and reboots my 3ds almost daily (or whenever I use this app for a long time)
Really really awesome. There are some really talented artists creating masterpieces like this and don't ask for a penny. They create really detailed art which takes many hours of their time because they want to. Thank you for sharing your work.
dude, i know whatnyou mean. ive been struggling with that glitch for a while now too. the way it stops letting you undo -_- But ive been messing around, and i figured out a way to let you "undo" again on a cirtian painting. just submit it to your online gallery, then redownload it.(be sure to delete the old one too) hope it helps you out in the future.
This is really well done! There is no shame in using a pic as reference (even as a background overlay), there is still a great deal of skill, time, and effort involved. My hat is off to you for a great piece!
Hey. There is NO SHAME in tracing or using a pic as a refenrence. Art is art. As long as you put effort in your drawing and that you're happy with it. As for your drawing, no words can describe how awesome it is. XDi
Well, that was certainly worth the time you spent making that it looks like it was just copied off the internet but I've seen your paintings and they could just be the best I've ever seen hope to see many more paintings from you. You are most definately going to be a professional, I do not know how to spell that, painter some day once again, GR8 JOB!
O.o Wow, guys. one-hundred-thirty-six comments and one-thousand-two-hundred-seventy-two favorites!! (just so you know, it isnt letting me put numbers in my comment. -.-) Thanks so much everyone! And for all you who say this was "traced", technically it is. When I started this I had no idea I would be drawing it to look almost exactly like the CG image. I did technically "trace" it, yes, but I was just doing this so I could make the image in threeD. It was quite frustrating when it messed up and I had to redo almost the whole gunblade, but I had fun too. And that's what really counts. And as for posting a traced image in the gallery, well, I just wanted to share it with all of you cause I thought it looked pretty cool in threeD. ;D Also, since I couldn't leave my image without the fear of it royally messing it all up again, I couldn't check the comments on my other paintings. Once I got done with it I saw a comment on my Rinoa painting requesting a Squall painting. Well, here's that Squall painting you requested, *Vergil*. ;)
Good work. Outstanding. I love this so much I cannot describe in words! I can only hope they update this software so that it doesn't have so many bugs, it crashed/froze my 3DS 3 times before the last system update, now it closes the software whenever an unexpected problem occurs. I commend the time and effort you put into this.
Thanks, Ben. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that in the description. Its Squall Leonhart from the game Final Fantasy VIII for the PS1 and PC. Some of you might also remember him from Kingdom Hearts going by the name of "Leon".
Traced or not, I give you my respect for two reasons: a) you said you had fun drawing, which is respectable to everyone who's not an A$$, and b) every artist has to learn somehow. let he who has never TRACED cast the first stone.
I just zoomed in as far as I could, used the "Hide obstructing layers" layer option, and I'd use the color picker to pick the exact color from the background image by constantly switching back and forth from one layer to the other so I could see the background image. Having the "hide obstructing layers" option would make the layer that I'm currently working on disappear when I'd go to the layer right behind it and I'd be able to see the background image to know exactly how it looks.
As you can see from the beginning of the replay, I would make sure that the part of the image that I'm working on was completely solid so there's no transparency in it by filling in the lightest shade of, for example, the face and then going over it to add the eyes and detail with shading.
When making the steel look on the gunblade, I'd just pick the color that's used in that one area from the image and swipe short diagonal stripes in the direction of the detail and constantly switch between the layers and pick different colors along the way. ...If that makes any sense. I try. Its a little hard to explain. >.
I'm trying to come up with another character I should do. Preferably, from Final Fantasy games. I just really like the CG images. Suggest some in the comments, please! ;D
^w^ Hey again, stanton. Yeah, I've started Vincent already but I probably won't be drawing quite as much as usual until my screen protectors come in the mail. My bottom screen is looking a little scratched from using it so much.
Thanks, everyone, for the awesome comments! You guys really keep me drawing more!
Reply to OrpheusTelos: No I didn't. I thought about it once, though. It would've been cool to see it sideways in the replay but it doesn't even show the whole replay...That still ****** me off. >:(
yo thiz is the most awsome pic of a cartoon i ever saw like if a was a boy i would totaly date you but im not sure if your a girl so if your a girl who drew this would you like to go out and i know my name is like a girl but my sis did that and imm a boy but still do you want to go out
surely, this does not have enough likes. i would prefer this pic over the temple of time in first. this one has overall better quality and detail, not to mention the complex lighting and chairoscuro.
I love your painting and I love you so much for making this. This is beyond incredible and I watched the whole thing,I think you are very talented and gifted.Final Fantasy is my favourite gaming series and seeing Final Fantasy art was suprising to me.You did an amazing job
I am a huge fan of Squall and Final Fantasy VIII. To see such an epic and utterly perfect picture like this falls nothing short of breathtaking. You are one helluvan artist, my good sir.
im sorry buddy his name isnt leon thats just the ****** shortened part of his last name and his name is squall leonhart one of the two best FF main characters the other being cloud strife from FF7 hell yeah
