After looking at this for a moment, I have figured it out: The trichormetric indicator is actually not made up of three rectangular prism extensions comming from a rectangular prism base. It is actually three flat rectangles extending from a flat irregular shape bent downwards at a ninety degree angle. the rectangular extention on the left is extending from the top, the middle one is extending from the bottom, and the right one is extending from the side. What looks like the sides of a three-D object is actually the backround (except for the rectangle on the right which is on its side). Since we are looking at a three-D picture where the backround is the same color as the objects, our brains get confused. Hopefully my answer has eliminated any confusion. (I didn't explain the other two irregular objects in the picture 'cause this comment is way too long).
